BP Digitizer: Privacy Policy

This Privacy Notice applies to the Android app BP Digitizer (“the app”), package com.zandaulion.bpdigitized, version 1.6.0 and later. BP Digitizer is a blood pressure log that keeps your readings on your phone. It does not require an account and the developer does not operate any server for it.

The short version

BP Digitizer has no permission to use the internet. It cannot send your readings, your health profile, or your photos anywhere, and the developer never receives a copy of them. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. Your data leaves the app only when you choose to export it, share it, or copy it to Health Connect.

Information stored on your phone

The app stores the following in its private storage on your phone:

  • Your readings: systolic and diastolic pressure, pulse, the date and time, the blood pressure category, and any tags or notes you add.
  • An optional health profile: birth year, sex, weight, height, whether you smoke or have diabetes, and your activity level. These are health-related details; the app uses them only to show a risk assessment and reference categories.
  • Your settings, such as language, chart preferences, and reminder times.

All of this is used only to provide the app’s logging, charts, risk assessment, reminders, and export features on your phone.

Camera and scanning

The app asks for camera access when you choose to scan a monitor. The photo is read on your phone by models built into the app; it is never uploaded, because the app has no internet access. The photo is not saved with your reading. It stays in the app’s private cache folder, which only the app can read, until Android clears that cache, you clear the app’s storage, or you uninstall the app. Always check the values the app reads before saving them.

Android backup and device transfer

Android’s own backup to Google Drive and its phone-to-phone transfer are turned off for this app, so your readings and profile are not copied to Google or to another phone automatically. To keep a copy or move to a new phone, export a backup as described below.

Choices that move data out of the app

Each of these happens only when you start it:

  • Export and share. You can export a JSON backup (your health profile and all readings), a CSV file, or a PDF report. The app prepares the file and opens Android’s share sheet; you choose where it goes, such as your files, email, or a cloud folder. The app or service you choose handles that copy under its own terms. Exported files can contain sensitive health data, so keep them private.
  • Import. You can import a JSON backup from this app or from the BP Digitizer web app. The file is read on your phone.
  • Health Connect. If you grant permission, you can copy your readings to Android Health Connect from the dashboard. The app asks only for permission to write blood pressure and heart rate; it does not read any data from Health Connect. Once copied, Health Connect and the apps you allow to read it handle that data under their own terms. You can change or revoke these permissions in Health Connect at any time. On Android 13 and earlier, Health Connect is a separate Google app.

Reminders

Optional morning and evening reminders are scheduled on your phone with Android’s alarm and notification system. The app asks for permission to show notifications, to schedule alarms at exact times, and to restore your reminders after the phone restarts. No reminder data leaves the phone.

Advertising, analytics, and tracking

The app contains no advertising, no advertising identifiers, no analytics or crash-reporting services, and no third-party tracking code. It does not sell, rent, or share your information.

Retention and deletion

Your data stays on your phone until you delete it. You can delete individual readings in the app. Clearing the app’s storage in Android Settings, or uninstalling the app, removes all readings, the profile, settings, and cached photos and files. Because the developer has no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. Exported files and data copied to Health Connect are separate; delete them where you keep them.

Security

Your data is kept in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read. With no internet permission, the app cannot transmit data over a network. Exported files are not encrypted, so protect them and your phone with the security controls available to you.

Children and health information

BP Digitizer is for personal record-keeping only. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition; always consult a qualified healthcare professional about your blood pressure. The app is not directed to children.

Changes to this notice

If the app’s data practices change, this notice will be updated before or when the change is released, and the date above will change.
