Android Download

Pocket Omaha Core 0.7.1 is the standalone GitHub edition for Android 8.0 or newer. It includes watchlists, research, reviews, comparisons, the DCF sandbox, local alerts, widgets, and JSON backups. Cloud AI, Google sign-in, and credit purchases are omitted.

It installs as Pocket Omaha Core alongside the Play edition, with separate local storage. Use JSON backup and restore to transfer your records. See the installation guide for checksum verification, backups, and source builds.

About The App

Pocket Omaha helps long-term investors understand what changed in the companies they follow and revisit the reasons behind each idea. It is available as a mobile-first web app and a native Android app.

Start with a watchlist, use Review to see which companies need your attention, and open Research to look at the evidence. Write down why you follow a company, what must remain true, and what would make you reconsider, then record whether those reasons still hold.

Features

  • Review what needs attention: The Review screen brings forward companies with newly recorded financial changes, or whose last review is more than 90 days old. You decide whether your reasons are intact, need watching, or have changed, and every review is kept with its date.
  • Your reasons, in writing: Save why you follow a company, what must remain true, and what would make you reconsider, with notes, conviction, and an optional target entry price. You check your own conditions; the app never judges your thesis for you.
  • A score you can trace: A fundamental score from 0 to 100 across solvency, profitability, valuation, growth, and capital returns, plus a 12-point PASS / WATCH / FAIL checklist. Tap a metric to see what it means, how it is calculated, and where it falls short.
  • Financial trends: Revenue against free cash flow, cash against debt, margins, and share count, for as many years as the company has filed. A missing year is left as a gap.
  • DCF sandbox: A two-stage discounted cash flow model with sliders and bear, base, and bull presets. Banks get a tangible-book model instead, because ordinary free cash flow does not fit a lender.
  • Compare and filter: Compare up to five companies side by side, or filter the companies you have already researched. It is not a market-wide screener.
  • Watchlists and alerts: Keep several watchlists, sort them, and see their aggregate fundamental picture. Alerts flag meaningful score moves, checklist changes, and valuation crossings, with a digest every Sunday.
  • Home-screen widget: On Android, a widget keeps a chosen watchlist in view: its score, its change over the week, and each company's score changes. Larger sizes also highlight the companies that need attention.
  • Optional AI analysis: A separate AI analysis summarises the company's data. Your personal notes are left out unless you switch them on in Settings.
  • Portable research: No brokerage connection and no position sizes. Export your research as a JSON backup and restore it in either version.

Only measured numbers

Free market-data feeds often leave fields empty. Instead of filling the gaps with plausible defaults, Pocket Omaha shows a missing value as not reported and leaves it out of the score. Below 60% measurement coverage it produces no score at all, and every scorecard states the fiscal year it was built from.

Financial statements come from SEC EDGAR, the numbers as filed, with Yahoo Finance as a fallback and for quotes. There are no API keys and no recurring costs.

On the web and on Android

Both versions share the same scoring engine, so a company gets the same score, checklist, and valuation on either. The web app runs on a self-hosted server with invite-only access and push notifications. The Android app keeps everything on your phone, needs no account, and adds a home-screen widget for a chosen watchlist. On a tablet it switches to a side navigation rail, and the watchlist and review queue gain a second pane.

On Android, Google sign-in is only needed for AI analysis, which runs on credits: five free, with more available to buy. The Android app is a release candidate, on its way to Google Play.

Pocket Omaha is a research and review tool. Its scores summarise historical reported fundamentals; they do not predict returns or give personal investment advice.
